Vitasys: a full rack in Amsterdam, and quickly back online when it mattered

Vitasys B.V. is a managed service provider from Zwaagdijk-Oost. They provide IT support and manage workstations, servers, networks and applications for educational institutions and small and medium-sized businesses across the Netherlands. Part of their services runs on their own hardware.

That hardware was housed in another data center, where prices kept rising. Vitasys was looking for a more affordable home, with better service.

Vitasys got a full rack in AMS2, one of the Amsterdam data centers where we have our own racks. We provide their IP addresses, and they are connected to the internet through our own network.

The move took place during the Dutch summer holidays of 2026. Vitasys moved most of their hardware themselves. We helped move part of it, and helped set their services up again.

We also advised on replacement hardware and better firewalls, to reduce their attack surface and bring down their power consumption.

Vitasys now pays less than at their previous data center: their power costs are around 40% lower, and prices are clear up front.

How the partnership works in practice became clear when our monitoring noticed outside office hours that their IP addresses were unreachable. Our remote hands drove straight to the data center and helped find the cause: a power failure in their rack. Both power supplies in one of their servers had failed, which tripped the breakers and blew the fuses on their PDUs. Within 20 minutes of our remote hands arriving, Vitasys was back online, outside office hours.
